Purpose: To respond to your enquiry.

Newsletter (Zoho)

Data collected:

  • Subscription timestamp
  • IP address (for double opt-in verification)

Purpose: To send you updates about new books, releases, and other content you signed up for.

Legal basis: Consent — you subscribe and confirm via double opt-in (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Cookie Preferences

Data collected:

  • Your consent choices (stored locally in your browser via localStorage)

Purpose: To remember whether you accepted or rejected non-essential cookies.

Legal basis: Legitimate interest in respecting your cookie choices (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Server Logs (Vercel & Cloudflare)

Data collected:

  • Browser type & version
  • Referring URL
  • Pages visited
  • Date and time of access

Purpose: To ensure site security, prevent abuse, and diagnose technical issues. Server logs are generated by our hosting provider (Vercel) and our CDN/security provider (Cloudflare) as part of normal website operations.

Legal basis: Legitimate interest in maintaining a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Analytics

Data collected:

Purpose: We do not currently use any analytics tools on this website. If we enable analytics in the future, we will update this policy and ensure that any analytics cookies or scripts only load after you actively opt in via the cookie consent banner.

Role: Content delivery network (CDN), DNS, and security (DDoS protection)

Data shared: IP address, request headers, browser information. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary cookies for security purposes (e.g. __cf_bm for bot management).

Location: Global network, US-headquartered (EU–US Data Privacy Framework)

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party.

How Long We Keep Your Data

  • Contact form messages: Retained until your enquiry is resolved, then deleted within 6 months unless a longer retention is legally required.
  • Newsletter subscribers: Retained for as long as your subscription is active. Deleted within 30 days of unsubscribing.
  • Server logs: Automatically purged after 30 days.
  • Cookie consent preferences: Stored in your browser's localStorage indefinitely until you clear your browser data or change your preferences.

Your Rights Under the GDPR

If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification — Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten") — Ask us to delete your personal data.
  • Restrict Processing — Ask us to limit how we use your data.
  • Data Portability — Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Object — Object to processing based on legitimate interest.
  • Withdraw Consent — Withdraw any consent you previously gave, at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Germany, this is the relevant state data protection authority (Landesdatenschutzbeauftragter).

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
